Here’s a quick demo I made to experiment with a physical interface to control a digital media system. I sometimes miss having a whole load of CDs or records to flip through – partially because of the feel of it, and also because I recognise and remember some music by the picture on the cover.
Here we use a Raspberry Pi computer with a web cam to read QR codes printed on the back of 7″ album covers. When I hold up a QR code, the album starts playing.
- The camera works from about 2 meters away but this can probably be improved.
- I asked a local printer and they reckoned printing 150 album covers on quality card would be about £75.
